Mahir Speaking Club

Mahir Speaking Club is a language and culture project that takes foreign language learning outside the classroom environment and aims to help participants develop their speaking skills through real communication experiences. Carried out by the Mahir Youth and Development Association, this program brings together individuals who want to learn different languages while also supporting intercultural interaction and international awareness.

We believe that learning a language is not just about learning grammar rules and memorizing vocabulary. A language also embodies the way of life, culture, sense of humor, traditions, and worldview of the people who speak that language. For this reason, the core approach of Mahir Speaking Club is to combine language learning with cultural learning.

Thanks to the English, German, and Russian speaking clubs organized within the scope of the program, participants have the opportunity to use the language they are learning in a natural environment, while also enriching their cultural experiences by meeting people from different countries.

Language and Culture Together

During Mahir Speaking Club sessions, participants not only practice speaking but also discover the cultures, lifestyles, and social dynamics of different countries.

Especially thanks to events held with native speakers of the relevant language and international participants, participants get the opportunity to closely experience:

• Colloquial language,

Our Learning Approach

Non-formal education methods are utilized in Mahir Speaking Club activities. Participants are not passive listeners; they are an active part of the learning process.

Among the methods used in the activities are:

Social and Friendly Meetings in Istanbul

Mahir Speaking Club activities are held in cafes, youth centers, and social living spaces in different regions of Istanbul. Instead of an official classroom atmosphere, friendly, comfortable environments that encourage interaction are preferred.

In this way, participants use the language within the natural flow of daily life and can communicate free from the anxiety of making mistakes.
