Project Description

Language and culture are the gateways of individuals to the world. As the Mahir Youth and Development Association, we aim for every young person to be able to communicate in international languages, get to know different cultures, and gain a global perspective.

The Speaking Club Project is a dynamic platform that not only allows young people to learn languages but also enables them to build friendships and increase their cultural awareness in a fun social environment. Through our cooperation with local cafes, we make high-quality and accessible language education reachable for every young person.

Not boring grammar, but by playing games; working with native speaker teachers; getting to know the culture and traditions of Germany, English-speaking regions, and Russia—young people on this platform both improve their language skills and become part of a global community. Our goal is to ensure that every young person can communicate comfortably in different languages with self-confidence.

Project Content

🎯 Weekly Speaking Club Sessions In the sessions regularly organized every week, including German, English, and Russian, 10-15 young people come together. Held between 20:00 and 21:30 under the sponsorship of local cafes, these meetings are a platform where young people can practice speaking and build friendships.

👨‍🏫 Native Speaker Teacher Guidance Guided by native speakers for each language (German teacher for German, native English speaker for English, Russian teacher for Russian), participants learn authentic accents, grammar, and cultural knowledge. Our teachers share not only the language but also their life experiences and cultural stories.

🎮 Non-Formal Education Methods: Games and Interactive Activities Instead of traditional grammar education, role plays (airport, restaurant, hotel scenarios), guessing games, card games (Taboo, active language Pictionary), and storytelling exercises are used. This method ensures that young people find learning fun and develop their practical speaking skills.

🌍 Culture and Tradition Segment A part of each session is dedicated to the culture and traditions of the chosen language and its country:

• German Sessions: Oktoberfest, Weihnachten (Christmas), German music, art, and food

• English Sessions: Shakespeare, English literature, Thanksgiving, Christmas, pop culture

• Russian Sessions: Russian literature (Tolstoy, Dostoevsky), Maslenitsa, Russian dance and music

Through this segment, young people not only learn words but also discover the depth, history, and values of these cultures.

💬 Social Networking and Community Building Outside of sessions, young people engage in daily conversations, share language tips, and continue language practice in WhatsApp and Telegram groups. Through monthly social activities (museum trips, picnics, cinema), lasting friendships and a youth community are formed beyond language learning.

📊 Regular Evaluation and Progress Tracking Teachers provide feedback after each session. Participants' satisfaction is evaluated with surveys every 3 months. Language skill developments (A1 → A2-B1) are tracked and achievements are celebrated with certificates.
